This episode we are all over the map. We have Billy Burns that joins us to talk about war, oil Shortage, Fracking, and jimmy Carter. Then we have Eli Olsen to explain his political philosophy and what his plans are as a Libertarian. A lot of drinking done in this episode. Eli Olsen gets the "Twisted Shot Glass Award" for being the first guest to get shit faced
Eli Olson was Born in Seattle on January 4th, 1983. He is the second oldest in a family of eight brothers and sisters. This number is actually the combined total between the households of his divorced parents, but Eli never distinguished between the two. There was no such thing as a "half" brother or sister: Everybody was family! He is a local boy, raised in Snohomish County, and a graduate of Pilchuck High School in Marysville, WA.
As a child, Eli was affectionate, contemplative, and very curious. When he spoke, he was usually asking questions. He was fascinated by how things worked, and would often take apart his toys and put them back together again. As a young teen, he learned to play the guitar and developed a passion for Northwest music.
As an adult, Eli has a gift of natural leadership. In 2002 he took an interest in politics, not surprisingly right about the time we went to war with Iraq. He has been participating in elections on national and local levels over the last 10 years, recently earning a Washington state delegate position.
As a person who lives and works in Snohomish County, Eli--as well as many members of his family and friends-- has been directly affected by the housing crisis. He wants to help find reasonable and appropriate answers to the problems that directly effect those people hit hardest.
Eli's oldest brother, Merlyn, served in the Army, and his younger brother, Donny, is currently serving. What happens to soldiers after they come home is something Eli Olson is deeply concerned about. He believes that supporting our veterans in their emotional healing is as vital as getting their physical bodies rehabilitated, and has some specific ideas about how to get that done. Just ask him!
Eli has been described by his friends and family as a "compassionate man" of "principle". Like most of us northwestern 'moss-back' Washington natives, Eli enjoys exploring his state; his favorite time of year being late summer. Some of his favorite places to go include Lake 22, Orcas Island, and Friday Harbor.
* Eli Olson believes that the leaders of our state must embody the peoples' concerns and considerations. If elected as Congressman, he will fiercely maintain an open and honest conversation between the people who represent the issues and the people they effect.
* He believes that empowering the individual, and government which encourages personal ownership and responsibility, creates true freedom.
* He will work WITH you to foster a political system which RESPECTS you as an individual, ALLOWING you to create a prosperous future for yourself and your family.
