Books By: Peter Schiff
The FIRST-EVER (......IN A LONG TIME!) Johnny Rocket Launch Pad Double Feature! This week we are honored by having Peter Schiff, and our great friend and Launch Pad family member, Paul "The Saint" Addis! This show was informative and really fun to record having two respected bad-asses talk about Liberty in one Episode! Peter Schiff is a businessman and author, Peter Schiff. Many know him as “Dr. Doom” before he became widely credited with foretelling the US economic crisis years before it occurred.
In 2006, he sounded the alarm that the US economy was facing significant challenges as the credit and housing bubbles neared deflation. Peter has appeared numerous times on national television predicting the recession were he was met with skepticism by established insiders.
Mr. Schiff continued to warn of the coming collapse and in 2007, He authored the bestselling book “Crash Proof”. In it he warned that upon the economic downturn, the federal government would mis-read the situation, over react and propose solutions that would actually undermine any possible recovery. As he predicted, the government has grown at an exponential rate and has choked off the free market system from bringing economic renewal.
Peter have been a vocal critic of the economic stimulus packages proposed by both President Obama and President George W. Bush, while others remained silent and on the sidelines. It is government intervention through regulation, stimulus programs, and corporate bailouts that worsen our economic crisis and it is the free market that can save it. One of my most recent books, “How An Economy Grows, And Why It Crashes,” illustrates in simple terms how government intervention hinders the natural flow of an economy.
Paul Addis lives in the Seattle suburb of Kent, WA and works as a Project Manager in the Finance division at Alaska Airlines. He began at Alaska Air in 2009 after retiring from a successful 20-year career at Delta Airlines. Paul began his career as an Auditor at Delta Airlines in Atlanta, GA, working on controls that minimized waste and fraud for the Fortune 500 company. In 1990, Paul joined the Military Intelligence Corps as a Cryptologic Linguist in the US Army. During his four year stint serving his country, Paul used his training to protect the security interests of his nation earning various awards for service and accomplishment. He returned to Delta Airlines in 1994 after completing his voluntary military leave of absence. He holds a BBA in Management from Georgia State University. Paul and his wife, Cathy, have been active with community involvement for many years. Founding the Food and Support Team (FAST) in Newnan, GA allowed them to offer materials and services to their less fortunate neighbors. As a Meals on Wheels coordinator in Atlanta, Paul managed 200 volunteers who delivered meals to the elderly every workday. Paul has also been a frequent volunteer at the Bread of Life Mission in Pioneer Square since arriving in Seattle. He also served as a mentor at YearUp!, which is an organization that helps disadvantaged youth find a career and/or college education. In addition to these local community activities, Paul is also the CEO of a non-profit (lifespringafrica.com), which provides humanitarian services and projects in East Africa. Since 2002 Life Spring has been providing educational scholarships (especially for girls), clean water initiatives, microloans for widows, building houses and schools, and running an elementary school.
Paul & Cathy were both delegates for Ron Paul at the WA State GOP Convention in 2012. It was through the Ron Paul campaign in the 2012 general election cycle that Paul was introduced to the libertarian philosophy of government. He joined the local chapter of the Republican Liberty Caucus (RLC) and served as an elected PCO for his legislative district in 2012 and 2013. In the spring of 2014 Paul joined the Libertarian Party of WA and ran for State Representative in Seattle’s 36thDistrict. As Regional Director of the LPWA, Paul chartered new county chapters (King & Kitsap) for his region in an effort to grow the party and decentralize the governing structure. Hearing Robin Koerner speak at various liberty-oriented events, Paul became interested in the Blue Republican message of winning supporters instead of arguments. Fortunately, Paul lived close to Robin and they became friends. The relationship that developed solidified Paul’s decision to join Blue Republican and put his time and effort behind this organization.
