"Rescue me, O LORD, from evil men; preserve me from violent men.” ~Psalm 140:1
Every pro or anti gun argument out there has been beaten down to a science. This isn’t another gun rights argument.
Sifting through the news I discovered this, a no name liberal writer “totally down” with the President unilaterally disarming all citizens of firearms. The rhetoric is what gained rapid attention, not his credentials nor his logic. This debate needs to change, it’s outgrown the normal political scales we have grown accustomed to.
Unlike Gretchen Carlson of Fox News- a journalist I respect and an individual I have great admiration for- I do not see the 2nd Amendment as the right to use arms to hunt. Some say I don’t need an AR-15, and they have the right to say that, but I don’t think the EPA does either, and I certainly know other people in my own life who own firearms who I know certainly should not. I don’t care enough to have the Government draft legislation to disarm anyone though, because as long as I know who is armed and they know I am armed I am ok with that because we have to understand one thing; for one armed force to face off against another is mutually ensured destruction. Sometimes, understanding that I will have to become violent if violence is brought against me is all we need in order to get along, or at least tolerate each other enough and understand that the world is wide enough.
You say I don’t need an AR-15 but I say serial stabbers don’t need knives and those who commit hit & runs don’t need cars. We are so fast to run after the object because we don’t understand the real issue, the issue is sin. The issue is the action, not the method, the harder aspect to tackle for a flawed society. We are a flock of sheep, euthanizing the sheep dogs hoping that the sheep herder will always be there to keep the wolves at bay.
You can draft legislation or decree a dictatorial order as the no name liberal wimp I noted earlier mentioned, and as you send men with guns to confiscate my arms, I will be the first to admit I will not fight law enforcement. The law can demand my guns and I will turn them over because I don’t have the will to fight an impossible situation; me alone vs. the monopoly of power masquerading as justice. Say of me what you will, but if it gets to that point where that is the only option, we have much more to worry about in America. With that said, I don’t speak for those who will take “liberty or death” much more seriously either.
While the state sends men given the blessing to commit violence to those who will not bow, all you will have accomplished is disarming a law abiding public while those who don’t care for liberty or the law continue to kill and spread violence for violence sake.
You say I don’t need an AR-15, but I don’t believe in living in a world where I can’t have an upper hand against evil. Yes, I will not go hunting with an AR-15 but the truth is it’s not for hunting, it’s for killing and I’m not ignorant of that fact. Owning a firearm in my view is not meant to take life, but to preserve life. If I have to put down an individual, that person isn’t a life worth saving if they chose to inflict unjustified violence on the innocent. Easy access to guns is on us as Americans, but restricting access simply dilutes our will to protect ourselves and remain independent and free.
You’ve heard it before but I’ll say it again, to attack our guns is to attack us and by doing so the terrorist win.
It’s literally that simple.
My gun is an extension of my natural right to self defense. It’s a tool and I am the operator.
Men like the no name liberal wimp who frothed at the mouth for a royal decree to have the government disarm “we the people” feels brave because men without power always wish to take away the power and strength of others.
Liberals often say the Second Amendment only specifies a “well-regulated militia” but I agree with James Madison, I am the militia and if you love this country enough, you are too. America will never be invaded because of our military presence abroad, but because of the mutually ensured destruction that would come if a foreign enemy tried to face off against the most well armed populace in history.
Yes, I am willing to commit violence for the preservation of life. That is what liberty asks of each and everyone of us. To deny that is to deny reality itself.
If you aren’t willing to ever consider violence as an option against evil, that’s your problem, not mine.
